Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan, located in Central Asia, is officially known as the Kyrgyz Republic and it is a landlocked and mountainous nation. More than 50% of the country's population is involved in agriculture and herding. Most of its cultivated land is irrigated. Crops grown in the country are cotton, sugar beets, vegetables, tobacco, fruits, potatoes, grapes and berries. The country has rich deposits of mineral resources including oil, natural gas, gold, rare earth metals, coal, nepheline, mercury, zinc, bismuth, lead and uranium. Main industries are small machinery, food processing, textiles, sawn logs, cement, shoes, gold, refrigerators, rare earth metals, furniture and electric motors. |
